The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation is working towards developing a model sign code ordinance for Wisconsin Main Street communities and downtown districts.
On this page are three items through which we'd like to receive your feedback as we research sign ordinances as they relate to business signage within Main Street communities and downtown districts throughout Wisconsin. Our goal is to determine common or unique types of regulations, degrees of enforcement, various permit procedures, adherence to current state and federal laws, and to compile examples of effective and non-effective signs. We will then use this data to create a model sign ordinance and best practices guidebook for communities of all sizes.
- Survey: Answer a short survey about your experience with signs.
- Map: Show us signs you feel improve the look and feel of your downtown district.
- Map: Show us signs you feel detract from the look and feel of your downtown district. (These photos will not be used in any final documents.)
- Upload Photos: Share any photos you feel improve the look and feel of your downtown district without pinning to a map.
Please submit your responses by June 10.
You are welcome to return to the map activities and upload photos of signs throughout the response period.
