What is a Parks and Recreation Plan?
Parks and recreation plans are 5-year plans that should accomplish the following:
- Create an inventory and assessment of existing parks and recreation facilities in the Township, and assess current circumstances related to the facilities.
- Gain community input on parks and recreation, including strengths and weaknesses.
- Educate the community and local government on parks and recreation.
- Develop goals and objectives that address parks and recreation needs over five years.
- Establish a framework to accomplish the goals of the plan, including future parks and recreation improvements if applicable.
- Establish eligibility for grants and other funding resources.
Why are we doing this?
Parks and recreation plans help the Township plan for the recreation needs for current and future residents. Recreation, parks, and open spaces are key ingredients that keep the community attractive and as well as support a high quality of life for its residents. The Township plays an important role in ensuring the delivery of recreation, parks, and other leisure activities meet the needs of the community. The 5-year parks and recreation plan is intended to guide the Township in the planning for future recreation opportunities and services.
